Recap: Butler Bulldogs vs. Rocky River Ravens
After losing to the Rocky River Ravens the last time they met, the Butler Bulldogs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Butler came out on top against Rocky River by a score of 63-54 on Friday.
Butler's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aree Branch, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Branch continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Terrance Badio was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Rocky River lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Shamari Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. The match was Johnson's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Markiest Houston, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Butler has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for Rocky River, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Butler will take on Charlotte Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Charlotte Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. As for Rocky River, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Providence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
