Softball Game Preview: Argo Argonauts vs. Lemont Lemont HS

Argo is 0-7 against Lemont since April of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Argonauts will square off against the Lemont HS at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Argo's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Blue Island Eisenhower.

Meanwhile, Lemont made easy work of Bremen on Tuesday and carried off a 15-0 win.

Claire Podrebarac was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last ten games.

In other batting news, Lemont let Emma Barrett and Natalie Pacyga run wild. Barrett got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Pacyga went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was Pacyga's first of the season. Emma Lagan was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Lemont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bremen only posted an OBP of .231.

Argo's record now sits at 17-5. As for Lemont, their record is now 15-7.

Argo came up short against Lemont when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 7-4. Can the Argonauts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
