Basketball Recap: Box Elder Takes a Loss

Box Elder was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bonneville Lakers. The Bees were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lakers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Several Bees players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooklyn Burt, who posted nine points and three steals. Burt is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Kenzee Jeffries also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Among those leading the charge was Ema Eskelsen, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards. Baya Jimenez was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Box Elder's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Bonneville, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-9 record.

Box Elder didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-33 defeat against Clearfield on the 17th. As for Bonneville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-36 loss against Viewmont on the 17th.
