Basketball Recap: LaPoynor Takes a Loss

If LaPoynor was feeling good fresh off their 72-25 takedown of Cross Roads last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The LaPoynor Flyers took a 67-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Frankston Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Flyers of the 54-51 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

LaPoynor has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-8 record this season. As for Frankston, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-8.

LaPoynor and Frankston should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. LaPoynor (ranked 442nd) will meet Cayuga (ranked 979th) at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Frankston will face off against Alba-Golden at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 835 places (504 vs. 1339).
