Football Recap: Camden Fairview Falls Short Against Ranked Lakeside

Camden Fairview faced Lakeside in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cardinals fell 33-28 to the Rams. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Camden Fairview's loss came despite strong showings from Dayton Browning and Brodie Dow. Browning gained 207 total yards and two touchdowns, while Dow threw for 369 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt. A healthy portion of that aerial production (86 yards to be exact) went to Jymauri Utsey, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Lakeside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Peter Ohman led the charge by rushing for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Those 133 rushing yards gave Ohman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wally Wolcott, who threw for 253 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes.

Camden Fairview's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Lakeside, their record now sits at 3-1.

Camden Fairview and Lakeside will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Cardinals will face off against rival Arkansas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Lakeside is set to challenge their familiar foe Magnolia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
