Volleyball Game Preview: Appleton North Lightning vs. Kettle Moraine Lasers

The Appleton North Lightning will head out on the road to square off against the Kettle Moraine Lasers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Appleton North will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Appleton North is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wisconsin's top teams: Kaukauna, who was ranked 16th at the time (Appleton North was ranked fourth). The Lightning blew past the Galloping Ghosts 3-0 on Tuesday.

Appleton North was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-11, 25-18.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kettle Moraine, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against Oak Creek by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday.

Kettle Moraine had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-22.

Appleton North's record now sits at 24-6. As for Kettle Moraine, their record is now 14-12.

Appleton North beat Kettle Moraine 2-0 in their previous matchup back in September of 2023. Will the Lightning repeat their success, or do the Lasers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
