Softball Recap: Newbury Park Wins Going Away Against Calabasas

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Calabasas Coyotes with a sharp 16-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Lily Johnson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikki Kennedy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Newbury Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .536. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

With the win, Newbury Park broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-6. As for Calabasas, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Newbury Park will venture away from home to face off against Westlake at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Calabasas, they will be playing at home against Poly at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
