It's playoff time, and Centennial had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Central Cobras with a sharp 15-3 win on Tuesday. Considering the Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Tynlee Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addyson Barton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Haylie Lawston also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Centennial moved to 8-12 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
