Softball Game Preview: Richfield Spartans vs. Washburn Millers

The Richfield Spartans will challenge the Washburn Millers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Richfield will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Richfield's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Roosevelt with a sharp 10-0 win. The Spartans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Washburn entered their game against Kennedy on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Millers lost 12-1 to the Eagles. The contest marked the Millers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Washburn saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Bretl, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Washburn now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Richfield, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Richfield took their win against Washburn when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 24-2 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Millers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
