Baseball Game Preview: Putnam County Midgets vs. Maysville Wolverines

The Putnam County Midgets will head out to challenge the Maysville Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Putnam County will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Seven must be Putnam County's lucky number: they beat Newtown-Harris with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Midgets beat the Tigers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-2.

Meanwhile, Maysville had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 15-12.

Putnam County pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Maysville, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Putnam County skirted past Maysville 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Midgets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
