Baseball Recap: Sidney Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Susquehanna Valley, Sidney was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Delaware Academy Bulldogs with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Sabers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Alex Secor was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Secor wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaxen Swain, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Swain a new career-high.

Sidney's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Delaware Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Sidney will head out to take on Walton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Sabers are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Delaware Academy, they will welcome Greene at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
