Baseball Recap: Auburndale Comes Up Short

After flying high against Haines City on Wednesday, Auburndale came back down to earth. The Bloodhounds fell 8-5 to the Victory Christian Academy Storm on Thursday. The Bloodhounds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Storm apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

Conner Stricklen and Colton Shelton stepped up to the plate in a big way. Stricklen went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Shelton got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Auburndale is 2-1 when Stricklen posts two or more runs, but 3-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Slagel, who earned one RBI, one run, and three stolen bases.

Auburndale's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Victory Christian Academy, their record is now 5-14.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Auburndale will take on Lake Buena Vista at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Victory Christian Academy, they will host Oasis Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
