Basketball Recap: Belmont Comes Up Short

If Belmont was riding high fresh off their 49-22 takedown of Somersworth last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Belmont Red Raiders took a blow against the Gilford Golden Eagles on Wednesday, falling 51-20. The Red Raiders have struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Belmont now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Gilford, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Belmont will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Winnisquam at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Belmont is facing Winnisquam at the right time seeing as Winnisquam is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Gilford and Somersworth will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Gilford will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: Somersworth will have lost three straight heading into Friday's match.
