Preview: Cloquet Lumberjacks vs. Cromwell Cardinals
Cloquet is 5-0 against Cromwell since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Cloquet Lumberjacks will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Cromwell Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. Cloquet knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Cromwell likes a good challenge.
Cloquet scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 113-83 win over Hibbing/Victory Christian Academy on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Cloquet has managed all season.
Meanwhile, Cromwell put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They managed a 73-69 victory over Browerville. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Cromwell can attribute much of their success to Brady Dahl, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds, and Dylan Nyberg, who scored 27 points along with seven assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Nyberg has scored at least 25% of Cromwell's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Collman, who scored eight points.
The win got Cloquet back to even at 4-4. As for Cromwell, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Cloquet against Cromwell in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 71-35 victory. With Cloquet ahead 71-35 at the half, the game was all but over already.
