Softball Recap: Smithville Comes Up Short

Smithville lost against Northwestern on Wednesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Smithies came up short against the Huskies, falling 13-1. The Smithies' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Smithville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ali Horst, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Reagan Gherian also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Smithville's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Northwestern, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-9.

Looking ahead, Smithville will square off against Hiland at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Smithies are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Northwestern, they will face off against Tuslaw at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
