Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Vanguard couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Pine Ridge Panthers by a score of 8-7 on Monday. The Knights' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Gavin Aiton stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Noah Robinson, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Vanguard's loss dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Pine Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9-2 record this season.

While Vanguard had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
