Basketball Game Preview: Pacific Grove Breakers vs. Palma Chieftains

Pacific Grove hasn't had much luck against Palma recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Pacific Grove Breakers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Palma Chieftains at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Pacific Grove was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 63-58 to Oakwood.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Gabriel Valencia, who posted 17 points and eight rebounds. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Andrew Nimri, who had 21 points.

Meanwhile, Palma had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They breezed by the Cowboys to the tune of 60-28. The Chieftains have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 20 points or more this season.

Palma has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Pacific Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Pacific Grove suffered a grim 65-44 defeat to Palma when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Can Pacific Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
