Softball Game Preview: Smithville Seminoles vs. Walnut Wildcats

The Smithville Seminoles will head out on the road to take on the Walnut Wildcats at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Smithville's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against West Lowndes as Smithville made off with a 15-0 win. The Seminoles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Walnut got the win against Hickory Flat on Friday by a conclusive 10-0. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by ten runs or more this season.

Brittan Dawkins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Dawkins was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Brailee Quinn was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Allie Jackson, who scored a run and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-1.

Walnut always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hickory Flat only posted an OBP of .125.

The win got Walnut back to even at 3-3. As for Smithville, their record is now 2-3.
