League recap: Monte Vista extends winning streak with victory over Crowley County

Monte Vista extended the longest winning streak in 1A Southern Peaks this week by beating Crowley County, 50-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Pirates.

Monte Vista moved up to 89 from 115 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Greg Jones' team was able to make move up by defeating the Chargers 50-7.

Ignacio's Adison Jones and Clayton Jefferson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jones has thrown for 1217 yards this season, while Jefferson has 26 catches for 484 yards. Shadron Wenta from the Pirates leads the league in rushing with 1221 yards.

In 77 carries Austin McDonald has accumulated 958 yard this year.

Monte Vista took down Crowley County 50-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Michael Sanchez threw for 35 yards and one touchdown and ran for 101 yards in the win.
