Baseball Game Preview: Pocono Mountain West Panthers vs. Bethlehem Catholic Hawks

Pocono Mountain West is 0-4 against Bethlehem Catholic since April of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. Pocono Mountain West will face off against Bethlehem Catholic at 4:00 p.m. Bethlehem Catholic took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Pocono Mountain West, who comes in off a win.

Pocono Mountain West will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against East Stroudsburg North on Thursday. Pocono Mountain West blew past East Stroudsburg North 12-2.

Jayden Espinoza made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, AJ Depasqua was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. Sean Brauning was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Bethlehem Catholic was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They fell 5-2 to East Stroudsburg South. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Bethlehem Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Richards, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That run was Richards' first of the season.

The victory got Pocono Mountain West back to even at 1-1. As for Bethlehem Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Pocono Mountain West might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Bethlehem Catholic when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Pocono Mountain West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
