Baseball Game Preview: Pendleton Heights Arabians vs. Greenfield-Central Cougars

Pendleton Heights is 2-8 against Greenfield-Central since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Arabians will challenge the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Pendleton Heights is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Pendleton Heights is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Anderson by a score of 6-3.

Jacob Garner tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Colin Axel-Adams, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one triple. He is on a roll when it comes to triples, as he's now hit at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Ryland Montgomery was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Greenfield-Central hadn't done well against Mt. Vernon recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cougars blew past the Marauders 7-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

The victory got Greenfield-Central back to even at 14-14. As for Pendleton Heights, their win bumped their record up to 18-9.

Pendleton Heights couldn't quite get it done against Greenfield-Central when the teams last played on May 7th as they fell 4-1. Can the Arabians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
