Softball Recap: Millington Has No Trouble Against Ithaca

Millington had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Ithaca on Wednesday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Yellowjackets. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won five in a row.

Morgan Matusik was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Matusik was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn Bentoski, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Karlie Sherman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Millington's record is now 12-7. As for Ithaca, with the defeat, they broke their 12-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-4.
