Football Recap: Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils vs. Upper St. Clair Panthers
Mt. Lebanon unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Upper St. Clair Panthers on Friday, falling 35-14. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Panthers are ranked 13th).
Ethan Hellmann was nothing short of spectacular for Upper St. Clair: he threw for 273 yards and four TDs while completing 77.3% of his passes. What's more, Hellmann racked up 157.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Dante Coury handled things on the ground, rushing for 83 yards.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Lebanon will square off against Penn-Trafford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
