Softball Game Preview: Gilmer Buckeyes vs. Chapel Hill Bulldogs

The Gilmer Buckeyes will head out on the road to challenge the Chapel Hill Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gilmer has seven straight wins, Chapel Hill has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Monday, Gilmer earned a 10-5 victory over Harmony.

Meanwhile, Chapel Hill might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Kilgore who claimed the real prize. Chapel Hill lost 13-3 to Kilgore.

Chapel Hill saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaliyah Shabaan, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Gilmer's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Chapel Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Everything went Gilmer's way against Chapel Hill when the teams last played back in April of 2019, as Gilmer made off with a 14-0 victory. Does Gilmer have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chapel Hill turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
