Basketball Recap: Holmes Takes a Loss

Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 70-65 heartbreaker at the hands of the Marshall Rams. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (64), the Huskies still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Holmes still got an impressive performance from Joseph Ramon, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 27 points and three steals. Those 27 points gave Ramon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Conrad, who posted 15 points and seven rebounds.

Marshall was led to victory by Jason Vidaurri and Jai Lopez. Vidaurri went 7 of 10 on his way to 22 points along with eight assists and seven boards, while Lopez went 8 of 14 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds. Lopez continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Josiah Powell was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Holmes' defeat dropped their record down to 4-22. As for Marshall, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-15.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Stevens the next time they take the court. Marshall will head out to face Stevens at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Holmes will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 14th.
