Volleyball Game Preview: Greer Yellow Jackets vs. Pickens Blue Flame

Greer is 0-4 against Pickens since August of 2019 but things could change on Monday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Greer barely beat Travelers Rest the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Yellow Jackets were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Devildogs on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Yellow Jackets have posted against the Devildogs since October 8, 2019.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-16, 25-22.

Adison Howard and Ivey Tapp were among the main playmakers for Greer as the former had nine digs and four aces and the latter had 16 assists and five digs. That's the most digs Howard has posted over her last two matchups.

Meanwhile, Pickens waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Bulldogs 3-0. The Blue Flame not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 25th (when they won 3-0).

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Pickens was: they took every set by at least 13 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-12, 25-5.

Greer's record is now 18-6. As for Pickens, their record now sits at 22-4.

Greer suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Pickens when the teams last played back in September. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
