Recap: Summit Tigers vs. Aspen Skiers

The Summit Tigers struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (the Aspen Skiers had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Summit took a hard 47-31 fall against Aspen. While losing is never fun, Summit can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Aspen is ranked 31st).

Despite the loss, Summit still got an impressive performance from Matthew Valdez, who scored two points along with three steals. Valdez hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games.

Tommy Franceschi was his usual excellent self, scoring ten points for Aspen. Another player making a difference was Luke Holloway, who scored seven points.

Summit has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Aspen, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summit will face off against Buena Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Buena Vista has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 248 points over their last four matchups. As for Aspen, Aspen and Steamboat Springs will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Steamboat Springs is on a three-game streak of home wins, Aspen a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
