Baseball Recap: Sylacauga Comes Up Short

Sylacauga was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 9-4 to the Shelby County Wildcats. The Aggies were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Connor Phillips made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Sylacauga's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 4-1 (and 9-15 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jamaury Thomas, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Sylacauga's loss dropped their record down to 13-16. As for Shelby County, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-12.

While Sylacauga had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
