Softball Recap: Central Wise Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

Central Wise entered their tilt with Gate City on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Blue Devils. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-0 last Wednesday.

Sophie Carter was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Chloe Wells was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Central Wise's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Gate City, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Coming up, Central Wise will welcome Abingdon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gate City, they are taking a road trip to take on West Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
