Basketball Recap: Bruton Takes a Loss

Bruton played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 62-35 loss at the hands of the Warhill Lions. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 67-60.

Warhill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lainey Gray led the charge by going 8 of 14 en route to 18 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Gray has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Taleah James was another key player, going 6 for 9 on her way to 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Bruton has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Warhill, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bruton will venture away from home to square off against Smithfield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Warhill, they will head out on the road to challenge Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
