Softball Recap: Franklin Wildcats vs. Pleasant Grove Eagles
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Franklin's offense. They came up short against the Pleasant Grove Eagles on Wednesday, falling 9-0. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Leilani Garcia was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits.
On the hitting side, Franklin saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Valdez, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 10-8-1. As for Pleasant Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Franklin is set to challenge their familiar foe Cosumnes Oaks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove will face off against rival Sheldon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.9, the Huskies 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
