Basketball Recap: West Jessamine's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

After flying high against Mercer County last Thursday, West Jessamine came back down to earth. The West Jessamine Colts fell to the Southwestern Warriors 45-40. The match marked the Colts' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southwestern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kinsley Molden, who went 5-for-9 en route to 19 points and seven rebounds. Mckaila Monroe was another key player, as she made all 5 shots she took racking up 10 points along with three steals and three blocks.

West Jessamine moved to 24-8 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points over those games. As for Southwestern, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season.

West Jessamine does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southwestern, they will take on Danville Christian Academy at 8:15 p.m. on Friday. Danville Christian Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Southwestern surely won't give up without a fight.
