Basketball Recap: Southeast of Saline Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Southeast of Saline can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. Everything went their way against the Republic County Buffaloes as the Southeast of Saline Trojans made off with a 69-43 victory. With that win, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 52.2 points per game.

Leading Southeast of Saline to victory were Gannon Jacobson and Owen Bailey. Jacobson went 9 for 15 on his way to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Bailey went 7 of 14 en route to 17 points. Jacobson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Kejr, who posted nine points.

Southeast of Saline was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Southeast of Saline's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Republic County, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southeast of Saline will square off against Sacred Heart at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Republic County, they will face off against Thayer Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
