Essex Tech had won four straight games and Barrett Cross did his part to make it five on Monday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Wakefield Memorial Warriors thanks in part to Cross, who had eight aces and one block. Cross is also crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 21 every time he's taken the court this season.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-5, 25-15.

Essex Tech's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Wakefield Memorial, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Essex Tech will welcome Arlington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wakefield Memorial, they will venture away from home to square off against Woburn Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Tanners have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
