Softball Recap: Westville Extends Road Winning Streak to Eight

Westville posted their closest victory since March 29th on Saturday. They skirted past the Tri-City Tornadoes 2-1. The two-run effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Lilly Kiesel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Westville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Valangeon, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Westville's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Tri-City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4-1.

Westville has already played their next contest, a 14-7 win against Deer Creek-Mackinaw on the 10th. As for Tri-City, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-2 defeat against Teutopolis on the 10th.
