Baseball Recap: Fontainebleau Comes Up Short

After flying high against Assumption last Thursday, Fontainebleau came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell just short of the St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons by a score of 3-1 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 last Tuesday.

Fontainebleau has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-15.

Fontainebleau didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-4 defeat against French Settlement on the 12th. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 4-1 loss against Slidell on the 14th.
