Baseball Recap: Northwood Academy Has No Trouble Against Palmetto Christian Academy

Northwood Academy barely beat Palmetto Christian Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Northwood Academy Chargers blew past Palmetto Christian Academy 10-0 on Monday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Chargers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jhett Dungan made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Northwood Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-6 otherwise. Dungan was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double.

Dungan wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zach Welch, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Jack Singleton also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Northwood Academy's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-7. As for Palmetto Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Northwood Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Palmetto Christian Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
