Football Recap: Independence Bulldogs vs. Columbus Titans
Independence had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost to the Columbus Titans on the road by a 45-28 margin on Thursday.
A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between Jack Vilela and his top target Jace Midgett. Vilela threw for 326 yards and five touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes while Midgett picked up 179 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Midgett torched the secondary when he pulled down a catch that went for 71 yards. Another player making a difference was Jett Tanner, who rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
Independence will venture away from home to face off against Mulvane at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Columbus, they will welcome Galena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
