Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Mentor's Winning Streak

After flying high against Kenston on Tuesday, Mentor came back down to earth. The Cardinals lost 3-0 to the Archbishop Hoban Knights on Thursday. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Mentor was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 17 points in every single set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-17.

Kayden McKinney paced Mentor's offense, picking up seven kills. McKinney got some help from Addison Keeper and her ten assists. Ava Garrett controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

With the defeat, Mentor broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3. As for Archbishop Hoban, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Mentor wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Jackson on the 3rd. As for Archbishop Hoban, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Clay on the 30th.
