Soccer Game Preview: Astoria vs. La Grande

The Astoria Fishermen will square off against the La Grande Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Astoria has given up an average of 2.9 goals per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Astoria fell victim to Scappoose and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 8-0 to the Indians. While losing is never fun, Astoria can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon soccer rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Scappoose are ranked 12th).

Meanwhile, La Grande had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Buckaroos as they made off with a 4-1 win. The result was nothing new for La Grande, who have now won three matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

La Grande's victory bumped their record up to 5-3-1. As for Astoria, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5-2.
