Basketball Game Preview: Cheraw Wolverines vs. Walsh Eagles

The Cheraw Wolverines will take on the Walsh Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Friday, Cheraw came up short against Genoa-Hugo/Karval and fell 35-27.

Meanwhile, Walsh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 59-20 loss at the hands of Eads. Walsh was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-8.

Cheraw will have to keep a close watch on Maribel Carrillo and Averi Kunselman, a pair of players who had a big impact on Walsh's prior game. Carrillo posted eight points along with six rebounds and four blocks, while Kunselman scored four points.

Cheraw's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Walsh, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.

Everything came up roses for Cheraw against Walsh in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 60-16 win. In that matchup, Cheraw amassed a halftime lead of 39-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
