Preview: Chamberlain Storm vs. King Lions

Chamberlain is 2-8 against King since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the Chamberlain Storm will head out on the road to face off against the King Lions at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th. Chamberlain is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.

While Chamberlain couldn't quite beat Jefferson on Tuesday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 25-point loss they were dealt on Friday. Chamberlain fell just short of Jefferson by a score of 60-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Despite their defeat, Chamberlain saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kmar Johnson, who scored 20 points, was perhaps the best of all. That's the first time this season that Johnson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of DeVonte Spears, who scored 17 points.

King suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 75-50 loss at the hands of Jesuit. King has struggled against Jesuit recently, as their game on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, King had strong showings from Julien Barnett, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Jabriel Hakim, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Andreas Jackson, who scored two points along with ten rebounds.

Chamberlain has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for King, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-9.

Chamberlain might still be hurting after the 74-53 defeat they got from King when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Chamberlain avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
