Recap: Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes vs. Robertson Cardinals

The Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Robertson by a score of 67-65. Pojoaque Valley has struggled against Robertson recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Pojoaque Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dalian Lopez, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Pacheco, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.

It was another big night for Jesse James Gonzales, who scored 21 points along with four steals for Robertson. Nathaniel Gonzales was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Pojoaque Valley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Robertson, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Pojoaque Valley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lovington at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th. Lovington has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 321 points over their last five games. As for Robertson, Robertson and Portales will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Portales is on a three-game streak of home wins, Robertson a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
