Baseball Game Preview: Susquenita Blackhawks vs. Newport Buffaloes

The Susquenita Blackhawks are taking a road trip to take on the Newport Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Susquenita is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Susquenita barely beat Upper Dauphin Area the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blackhawks put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 6-0 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Blackhawks in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.

Not much got past Ryan Schoppy, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Upper Dauphin Area off the board. Schoppy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Justin Reidlinger was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Billy Syster, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Susquenita always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Upper Dauphin Area only posted an OBP of .167.

Meanwhile, Newport earned a 10-5 win over Greenwood on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Buffaloes.

Newport got a massive performance out of Chris Imler, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Imler a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameson Cummins, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Susquenita's record now sits at 13-6. As for Newport, their record is now 12-5.

Susquenita couldn't quite finish off Newport in their previous matchup two weeks ago and fell 4-2. Can the Blackhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
