Softball Recap: Palm Harbor University Hurricanes vs. Land O' Lakes Gators

Palm Harbor University extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 17-9. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Land O' Lakes Gators. The shutout was out of character for the Hurricanes seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

As for Land O' Lakes, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 21 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.

For Land O' Lakes' part, Taliah Murria made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Murria has posted since back in February of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Murria wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jazlynne Whittington, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Palm Harbor University does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Land O' Lakes, they will square off against East Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Gators' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
