Softball Recap: Piscataquis Comes Up Short

After soaring to 20 runs the game before, Piscataquis was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mount View Mustangs. The Pirates were not able to make up for their loss to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Piscataquis has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Mount View, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piscataquis will challenge Dexter at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Mount View, they will face off against Winthrop at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
