Basketball Recap: Catholic Central Takes a Loss

Catholic Central played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Fairbanks Panthers 76-44. The Irish haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Catholic Central lost, don't look at Keegan Guenther. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachary Thompson, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and three blocks.

Catholic Central's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2. As for Fairbanks, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Catholic Central will host Madison Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Catholic Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season. Fairbanks and West Jefferson will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Jefferson also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 52.5 points per game.
