Baseball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Dayspring Christian Academy

Dayspring Christian Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Highland Huskies. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 9-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Gage Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Jackson Polk was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Vaniddekinge, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Dayspring Christian Academy pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-1.

Looking ahead, Dayspring Christian Academy will welcome SkyView Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Highland, they will venture away from home to challenge Caliche at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buffaloes have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
