Softball Game Preview: East Burke Cavaliers vs. West Lincoln Rebels

East Burke is 1-9 against West Lincoln since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cavaliers will welcome the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. East Burke has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

East Burke is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against R-S Central, falling 11-2.

East Burke saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyndal Morrison, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, West Lincoln fell victim to West Caldwell and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Rebels' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Gabrielle Wright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

West Lincoln's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8. As for East Burke, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Burke hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like West Lincoln struggles in that department as they've averaged .342. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
