Basketball Recap: Pender Takes a Loss

Pender was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 43-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Whiteville Wolfpack. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolfpack apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Pender saw an underclassman step up: freshman Maddison Francis dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 boards. The matchup was Francis' fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Pender's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Whiteville, their record now sits at 2-10.

Pender didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-8 victory against West Columbus on the 17th. As for Whiteville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-32 loss against East Bladen on the 17th.
